GOL Announces Airbus A330neo and Prepares Long-haul Expansion

GOL Airbus A330-900neo concept aircraft that will operate long-haul flights from Brazil.

Brazilian airline GOL Linhas Aéreas announced on Friday (March 6) a major milestone in its history: the introduction of long-haul aircraft Airbus A330-900neo that will enable the airline to launch intercontinental flights between Brazil, Europe and North America.

According to the company, up to five A330-900neo aircraft will be gradually added to the fleet between 2026 and 2027, marking the beginning of a new phase of international expansion.

The aircraft can carry approximately 300 passengers and operate flights of up to 15 hours, allowing the airline to reach markets beyond the range of its current Boeing 737 fleet.

According to CEO Celso Ferrer, the move represents a significant step in the airline’s evolution.

“GOL was created 25 years ago to transform aviation in Latin America. With widebody operations, we are expanding our boundaries and creating new products and services for our customers.”

Today the airline serves more than 80 destinations in 12 countries and carries around 30 million passengers annually.

Expansion Supported by Abra Group

The new aircraft are part of the strategy of Abra Group, which controls both GOL and Avianca, to expand international connectivity across Latin America.

According to group CEO Adrian Neuhauser, the new widebody aircraft will allow the company to explore long-haul markets departing from Brazil.

New Premium Onboard Experience

The Airbus A330-900neo is one of the newest widebody aircraft developed by Airbus and offers significant gains in fuel efficiency and reduced CO₂ emissions.

The aircraft will feature the Airspace cabin, providing:

  • premium business class seating;

  • advanced onboard entertainment systems;

  • quieter cabin environment;

  • larger overhead baggage compartments;

  • smart lighting system designed to reduce jet lag.

Flexible Operations with Wamos Air

The airline also announced that aircraft from Wamos Air may be used through ACMI agreements (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance) to increase capacity on specific routes.

This strategy will allow GOL to quickly scale its long-haul operations and respond to seasonal demand.

Routes to be announced soon

GOL said it will reveal the first intercontinental destinations, ticket sales dates and additional product details in the coming weeks.

The introduction of the A330neo represents a major transformation for the airline, positioning it to compete in the long-haul international market and connect Brazil directly to new global destinations.
