Modern Logistics, one of Brazil's leading integrated logistics companies, has received its first Boeing 737-800NG (Next Generation) with the registration PP-YBA (photo). The aircraft, a Converted Freighter (BFC) – meaning it was originally a passenger aircraft converted into a cargo plane – was acquired by Modern last year and has just received certification from the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) to commence operations in the national airspace. This is the first of two Boeing 737-800NGs recently purchased by the company. The certified aircraft has already begun operations, and it is anticipated that the second NG will be delivered within the first half of this year.

"We are very excited about the release of our first 737-800 NG. The capacity and operational efficiency of this new aircraft will drive the company's future success and better meet the needs and demands of our clients, in addition to aligning with our sustainability goals," highlights Cristiano Koga, CEO of Modern Logistics.

The certification process for Modern Logistics' first Boeing involved all areas of the company at various stages, from economic feasibility studies and aircraft model selection to the review of manuals and internal procedures, pilot training, and operational evaluation flights conducted under the supervision and oversight of the regulatory body ANAC. These flights validated Modern Logistics' internal processes in a real-world operation.

"In addition to the dedication of the entire Modern Logistics team involved in the project, the commitment and collaboration of ANAC were essential for the successful completion of this project, allowing Modern to operate within all safety and quality standards," shares Mario da Costa, CFO of Modern Logistics.

During the same aircraft certification process, Modern obtained approval to operate in Central America with its two new Boeing 737-800NGs.

"These three authorizations align with our international market expansion strategy and cost structure optimization through process improvement and technology utilization," emphasizes the CEO of Modern Logistics.

New Boeings: Increased Cargo Capacity and Cost Efficiency

The two Boeing 737-800NGs represent a significant upgrade to Modern Logistics' air cargo fleet. These next-generation (NG) aircraft mark a major milestone for Modern, making it the first integrated logistics operator in Brazil and South America to operate 737-800NGs converted into freighters. Consequently, the company will significantly enhance its cargo capacity and flight range. Both aircraft are leased through Babcock & Brown Aircraft Management (BBAM).

The Next Generation 737 is more economical in terms of tonne-kilometers transported and has a cargo capacity approximately 10% larger than the previous generation of 737s. The first aircraft was certified by PCA Airworthiness, in addition to the final approval from ANAC. The introduction of the new 737-800NGs is part of a fleet renewal strategy aimed at increasing operational efficiency and contributing to the company's ESG objectives.
